Target Objective:

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but sometimes it only takes a few words carefully selected by a designer to completely recast that picture's story. Coming up with compelling advertising concepts requires this kind of artful spin through the intelligent marriage of word and image. If executed properly, these ads hit you square in the gut.
Ads use three concept types: positive, negative, and metaphorical.
For example, if you took a photo of your eyeglasses, you may choose concepts like the following:Positive: You could have a glowingly positive ad for the pair that you wear Negative: You could have an ad for a competing product that uses your glasses as an example of what not to buy. Metaphorical: You could have an ad that uses the glasses as an example of the focus you need when selecting a mutual fund.
If you took a photo of your USB memory stick, examples might include:
Positive: Creating an ad for a memory stick highlighting how you can bring your memories everywhere. Negative: Creating an ad highlighting cloud-based storage and how it is unsafe to leave your secure files laying around on a USB memory stick. Metaphorical: Creating an ad for a public service announcement about memory loss issues, with imagery surrounding a USB memory stick up against a woman's head with a headline that states, "If only it were this easy to cure memory loss."

In this assignment, students will shoot a photograph of an ordinary personal item that is carried with them throughout the day. Students will then design one Instagram story ad of their choice showing the item in either a positive, negative, or metaphorical way.

During this Project, I had to create a Mind map, Slogans, and thumbnails, so that I could create a successful Final Project, below will have an example.

MIND MAP:
THUMBNAILS:
SLOGANS:

Project Take Away: This project was unique and fun, because we had to use an object from real life and use it to create an advertising. It posed its share of challenges, but I learned a whole lot while working on it, and I am very pleased with the outcome!
